One of the more stalwart uses of social media from the very beginning has been defined as “social bookmarking“. Essentially it’s a way to save and share in a way that goes way beyond the traditional bookmarking methods of a web browser. Recently a couple of veterans of the world of real estate technology have developed a real estate specific version of a social bookmarking application that has evolved into an extremely useful tool for consumers and real estate professionals. The product is called “Dwellicious“, a play on the most recognized brand of social bookmarking known as “Del.icio.us“.
To be honest with you, I wasn’t too intrigued with the concept at first blush, but after seeing a complete demo of the product and hearing how it is being used, I did complete turn around. There are great implications for the use of the product, as an analytics tool and much more. It’s going to take some some consumer traction to make the product a success, but I think there is an opportunity via the “Pro” version of the product and the viral nature that could ensue via MLS’ including it as an option and more.
I had a great conversation with Dan & Greg about Dwellicious. Enjoy!

This is a great idea. As an agent, the ability to collaborate more effectively with my clients on listings is very powerful eliminating lots of fleeting emails, spreadsheets, etc. As an agent, I don’t see $49 a month of value, so I think your pricing may be off. Or is it $29/mo? There’s not enough information on the site to understand the dashboard. Maybe the consumer version is OK…. I may sign-up to check it out.
Bruce – Dwellicious Pro is $29.95 a month, plus there is a special right now sponsored by Realtor.com where your first two months are free. I encourage you to try it out and see if it works for you. More info is at http://dwellicious.com/pro.
The only problem is that if they are using my Diverse Solutions IDX page they can not bookmark listings. Is this going to change?
@Adam: You can actually hop into your IDX control panel now and enable Dwellicious. We haven’t done a blog post on it (yet), but you can read about it on Geek Estate and Lightning | Twice.
You also have the ability to add your Dwellicious account name in there so that, if you have a Dwellicious Pro account, any new Dwellicious signups that come through your IDX will show up in your Dwellicious network.
Adam beat me too this. I played around with Dwellicious, but was frustrated that I couldn’t use my DS IDX engine. I wasn’t about to refer my clients to Realtor.com. I’ll enable this on my control panel and try again.
I’m trying this out, but it’s not working correctly. The Dwellicious chicklet on DS seems to work great and properties are easily added to my Dwellicious bookmarks. Great so far.
Once in my Dwellicious bookmark, if I click the property link, I’m taken back to a DS search — not the individual property. This needs to be corrected. Also, what happens if the property is no longer active? How would you direct the link?
Once the bugs are worked out, I think this could be a great complement to my DS solutions.
@Bruce – I believe Dan Woolley over at Dwellicious resolved this issue over the weekend. Give it a try now.
Justin – Dan did take care of it and sent a detailed email. Thx.
This sounds like something that might have worked back when it was posted. All in all clients want the best service we can provide.
