I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again:
The success of your blog is dependent on your ability to develop fresh new content consistently.
Simply put, people are looking for information that is relevant to them today. You don’t need to write a blog post every single day. But you do need to be consistent. Once a week (at least) should be a minimum though twice or three times a week is better. Write about the market. Define real estate terminology for your prospective buyers and sellers. Talk about that new condo complex in the neighborhood. Write about a specific gated community. Simply put, there’s lots you can talk about to get prospects to your site.
I know, I know… You’re short on time, right? Well, thankfully, dsIDXpress makes it easy for your to write a neighborhood update/market report or blog about a particular listing in as little as 5 minutes (or less). Here’s a quick video on how to do this…

Hi I just watched your video on how to do a market report with a short code. I do not have a wordpress blog. I use active rain and my blog on my Point 2 website. I believe I cannot do a short code on my blogs. Should I switch to wordpress? Is there a fee? and is tis part of your training?
Thanks Mary
WordPress is a phenomenal blog/website package that is totally free (except that you must have a hosting account from somewhere like GoDaddy, which will charge you I think $5 a month.) There’s a learning curve but it’s well, well, well worth it. You can see my website at http://www.sarasotapropertygroup.com for an example of what you can do.
The dsIdxPress software is a WordPress extension and it’s also well worth it … it doubled my web traffic in the first 90 days.
I think ActiveRain can pull in your WordPress blog but you have to use this software with WordPress.
@Alex: Thanks for chiming in here and sharing some advice/notes with Mary! Also, happy to hear it’s doubled your web traffic (always a great thing to hear). 🙂
@Mary: That is correct, in order to use dsIDXpress, you would need your own self-hosted WordPress account. You can get hosting with a provider such as Bluehost.com for less than $100/year and invest in a theme such as Estate or AgentPress.com for less than $100 as well. Once you’ve done that, it’s easy to integrate dsIDXpress as it functions as a plugin.
We do offer Customer Support and soon, webinars on how to use dsIDXpress including tutorials that you’ll find posted around here on the blog. If you opt to move to WordPress, I’d love to help you give it a go!
Nice video! I really need to play around with the shortcodes a bit more now that you’ve done so much work refining the process.
