Last week at Agent Reboot in Phoenix, Nicole Nicolay (Agent Evolution) delivered some great tips on WordPress and what to write about on your Real Estate Blog. I thought I’d share the video (and her topic ideas) with you today to kick off your Monday morning and give you some fresh content ideas to work with.

Can’t wait to see all of this live @ AgentReboot
@Michael: Can’t wait to connect #IRL! Should be a great event…
One small disagreement, and one deletion …
The biggest challenge for most isn’t the content. It’s the inability to write. I’m not saying you need to be Hemingway, but being able to put together more than 140 cohrerent characters at a time takes a little work. With very rare exceptions, people aren’t going to read the unreadable.
The delection – breaking news. Unless you are Curbed or are planning on being a report instead of, you know, selling homes, there’s no way you can do this all that effectively. And if you do, you are going to be top of mind in a reader’s head for the wrong reasons. The idea of “oh yeah, they also sell real estate” doesn’t fly. Take it from someone who’s an actual paid and published sportswriter in their spare time.
Thank you for sharing this video. She really shared some great content ideas.
This list is definitely a must-keep-on-hand! I think that most of the topics to write about are spot-on, but I would disagree with a portion of the “Personality & Passion” section. That is, if your blog is primarily work-related. I’ve read other agents’ blogs, and after reading an insightful article on a new housing market trend, there’s a post on their mom’s chili recipe. It just doesn’t go together well. If I’m looking for a recipe, I’m going to go to a food blog; if I’m looking for real estate advice, I’ll go to a Realtor’s blog. Not vice versa.
